Guidare means “to drive” a vehicle and also “to guide” or “to lead” people. It is a regular -ARE verb with the participle guidato.
Infinitive
guidare
English
to drive, to guide
Auxiliary
avere
Past participle
guidato
Gerund
guidando
Regular -ARE verb on the stem guid-: guido, guidi, guida, guidiamo, guidate, guidano. The u is pronounced, so the first syllable sounds like “gwee.” The future and conditional change a to e: guiderò, guiderei. No form is irregular.
Guidare is used for cars, buses, lorries and motorbikes: guido la macchina di mio padre, sai guidare? It also works without an object: guido io, in Inghilterra si guida a sinistra. Away from the road it means leading a group, a team or a country: guidare la squadra, guidare un'azienda, guidare i turisti nel centro storico. The noun la guida is the guide, the guidebook and the act of driving, as in la scuola guida (driving school) and la patente di guida (driving licence). For bicycles, Italians normally say andare in bicicletta rather than guidare.
Guidare takes avere, with or without an object: ho guidato per tre ore, chi ha guidato ieri sera? A preceding direct object pronoun makes the participle agree: la macchina nuova l'ha guidata solo lui.

Vado al lavoro in bicicletta., not Guido la bicicletta al lavoro. (I cycle to work.). For bicycles, Italian uses andare in bicicletta. Guidare is for motor vehicles.
