Common Mispronunciations of Linger
Not LIN-jer
A hard g belongs here, as in finger and anger. The soft j of ginger would give an entirely different word.
Not LIN-ger
The n and g fuse into the ng of sing, and then a second g follows. Linger, finger and hunger all do this; singer and hanger do not.
Tip: Rhyme it with finger. Singer, confusingly, has no extra g sound at all.
